ASSEMBLE: Anti-Sexual Harrasment by Leading Empowerment

Gender-based violence Is a violation of human rights. According to KemenPPPA, In 2021 there are 338. 496 report of sexual violence In Indonesia includes verbal, non-verbal, and physical sexual contact. As many as 78.4% of respondents from the survey felt that gender inequality arises due to discriminatory beliefs. UNICEF has stated that GBV Is the most pervasive yet least visible human rights violation In the world.

To prevent, eradicate, and remove the root causes of GBV, In commemoration of International Women’s Day, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA FK USK collaborate to present "ASSEMBLE (Anti-Sexual Harassment by Leading Empowerment)" with several activities.

First, we collaborated with two PETRA and HREF to hold pre-project training on March 17th and 26th, 2022 which were attended by the organizing committee and members of UKM Taekwondo USK to Increase their knowledge about gender-based violence.

On March 26th, 2022, we present Self-Defense Training with UKM Taekwondo USK where the organizing committee gets taught about basic defense and how to assess a dangerous situation and navigate effectively. In 45 minutes, we started with a warm-up, training session, and cooling down at the end of the activity.

Moreover, ASSEMBLE also held a panel discussion via Zoom-Meeting attended by 92 participants that come up with the theme "Empowering Women in Overcoming Cases of Gender-Based Violence and Gender Equality". The panel discussion was amazingly Invited Prof. Alimatul Qibtiyah, S. Ag. M.Si MA, Ph. D, as the Commissioner of the National Commission on Violence Againts Women of Republic Indonesia,  Mrs. Surayya Kamaruzzaman, S. T, L.LM M.T, as the secretary of the USK Center for Human Rights Presidium Shura Hall, Dr. dr. Taufik Suryadi, Sp. F(K), Dipl. BE, (Forensic Specialist at RS. Zainoel Abidin), Ms. Zahra Nur Aliya, as Research Officer for Girl Up Indonesia, and moderated by dr. Agung Prabowo. This event started at 09.00 WIB. Here, the speakers discussed sexual harrasment from the definition of social, psychosocial and forensic aspects, impacts, concepts, basic values, and implementation, also an overview of sexual harassment in Indonesia during the pandemic.

As the peak of event, we held Social Experiment to Interviews and educate people about GBV. This event was take place In Blang Padang on March 27, 2022, from 13.00 to 18.00 WIB. This activity began by dividing the OC into several teams and succeeded in educating more than 30 people, and most of them are feeling wonderful after we reach them out.

Fortunately, looking at the pretest and posttest given to the participants, there Is an Increase knowledge by 80%. With the implementation of this activity, SCORP and SCORA CIMSA FK USK hope we can increase the knowledge and public awareness to address how gender-based violence is a fundamental part of achieving a healthy, sustainable future for all.
